There is a lot of
talk regarding LeBron James and his career, but what about his garage door? The
basketball star has reportedly so many cars he gives the free ones to charity.
Current estimates place his personal fleet at about 5 cars. The Ferrari F430 is
so small that speculation was more on how to fit his 6'8” frame inside it. So
there are no issues getting that in and out of a standard garage door. The
Maybach, Rolls Royce Phantom, and Mercedes-Benz S-class are all fairly standard
in size proving that luxury does not always equal small or overly large.
The problem could
come with the Hummer H2. The standard height for this SUV is just under 80
inches, making him just a fraction of an inch taller. They both would fit under
a normal 7 foot tall door. Since he and
his friends are both brushing upwards of 7 feet, it is not hard to imagine,
though, that James would want a door 8 feet or even taller.
The Kia Borrego
that is part of the reward for being an MVP that James and other recipients
receive is at least 7 inches shorter and would present less of a problem of
clearance. Most of these, though, are donated to the charity of their choice.
It is hard to
imagine a house with 5 car bays, but those who have watched movies like Iron
Man or Tomb Raider can remember fancy garages with personal fleets. In those
instances it is not so much a case of multiple doors, but a personal garage floor with a single, perhaps double
wide garage door. These fancy garage doors probably have sensors to eliminate
the need for buttons. The garage door opener would certainly have to be custom
as most only have enough capacity for 5 remote controllers.
If a homeowner
finds, between two adults, an exterior number pad and interior remote and then
a driving teen, they have reached capacity, he or she should remember there are
always options. Contact a garage door service for information about a higher
capacity opener or a way to streamline the remote systems. A person doesn't need a fleet the size of
LeBron James to require a better garage door.
His grand needs
can remind a person of the value of extra garage space. Perhaps the riding lawn
mower is getting crowded in the shed. Remember that an extra garage can be used
to hold more than a car. A well added construction can provide hobby space or
storage. The next owner might just have
a few extra cars to store.
