While there are many reasons why one should visit London, a royal wedding is certainly putting some demands on a lot of tourists, and it will give London a boost on its economy and hope to many.
The royal wedding will take place on April 29, 2011 and is has already created a bonanza for many hotels in London, England, most places around Westminster Abbey, where the wedding will be celebrated, is already sold out and some companies are offering reasonable package deals.
Apparently Prince William and Kate Middleton engagement has become one of the most precious commodities at the moment, and since its announcement most hotels in London are already fully booked for late April, people from all over the world will be there.
A feeling of déjà vu for many, the same expectation many had when the Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer had announced their engagement back in 1981, Kate is even wearing Diana's ring.
We will all be lifted out of this gloomy economy, even if it is only for a day, the same exact way it happened 30 years ago, when the British people were also struggling with jobs and economic hardship, it will be a day of hope, a great excuse to celebrate, the world fell in love with Diana and everybody hopes the same will happen to the woman wearing her engagement ring.
This time though, it feels right, we all hope that William and Kate will live a fairy tale, they have known each other for many years, they were great friends before they became lovers, contrary from his mother who knew very little about Prince Charles when they became engaged, at the time Diana was only 19, and was surely not prepared to be part of the royal family.
William and Kate have known each other for over eight years, and their love appear to be genuine and strong. Kate is also much more mature and much older than Diana was at the time of her engagement, she seems well prepared to enter the royal family, she is well-educated, has traveled around the world and has had a responsible job.
The monarchy has almost been destroyed by the failure of Charles and Diana's marriage, and they hope the wedding of Prince William and Kate will secure its future, this time the monarchy is much better armed against the press, and even though the press might never be tamed they have been given boundaries.
As much as everybody enjoys a fairy tale, nobody wants to see a tragic ending like Diana's, so we all hope that the press will give them space and respect so they won't have to hide behind garage doors to have a moment of privacy.
