We all know there are two basic varieties of garage doors, two different engineering categories- on is the solid tilt-up method, and one it the roll up, sectional garage door that hinges in four places.
One of the pluses of having one of these sectional garage doors is that the garage can be opened incrementally much more easily, and you can leave it partway shut to block light but let in air, or mostly open, to let in light, or in whatever position you want. You don't need to account for the extra space it takes a tilt-up garage door to swing wide into and out of position.
One of the drawbacks, however, of the sectional garage door is that they are less durable than the lift-up varieties. Since they are in four parts, it much easier to accidentally break one or mess up the hinges. The panels and pieces can come apart after years of wear and tear. Panels can also eventually become warped, shoving the door off the track. They will probably require more frequent replacement and maintenance that the simpler variety.
But roll-down, sectional garage doors are definitely considered more snazzy than their more solid counterparts.
