Hard economic times mean simultaneously clearing out old junk out of the garage and trying to get other people to buy it. Various news reports are suggesting that garage and yard sales have increased substantially, sometimes as much as 200%, as the economy has one down the tubes, measured by garage sale listings and sightings, as well as ads on Craigslist and other internet sites for classified ads.
Just judging from casual observation of garage sale signs lurking on garage doors, I'd say they're right. This is a golden opportunity to take care of the disaster lurking behind your pretty new garage door- pull out all the old boxes and furniture, organize what you want to keep, and make a pretty penny on things that other people might want. It may seem like a herculean task, but it's really the work of no more than a weekend, and if you think about it, what would you be doing instead? Watching TV?
Put aside one weekend to get up close and personal with the grimy underbelly of your garage, and you'll be so pleased you did. You can help yourself pay for your bills, and if you don't sell that much, you can always put things up for sell on Craigslist and Ebay.
