Okay, so you've cleaned out and organized your garage: you're expecting it to look fantastic, aren't you? But there might be one problem: awful, ugly oil stains on the concrete floor that are obvious as soon as you open the garage door. Lucky for you, there's a fairly easy home-remedy for these unsightly stains.
.
First, sprinkle some cat litter (it sounds strange, but it works) all over the oil stain. Really get a nice, thick layer of litter over it. Press your foot into the cat litter, and grind it into the floor. Do this periodically over a period of a few weeks. Twist the litter into the floor a few times a day, whenever you think of it. Really get the friction up. Then, sweep away the remains of the litter, and drizzle some oven cleaner over the vanishing stain. This type of astringent cleaner is meant to break down oils, and will help.
.
Scrub the spot with a brush, put some more oven cleaner on, and scrub again. Let it soak for a while, then rinse it with a hose. Dishwater detergent can be an asset as well.
.
The process may seem tedious, but you'll thank yourself if you can push the 'open' button on your garage door opener and reveal a pristine interior that makes a good storage and workspace for your home. It's like adding on an entire room you didn't know about before.
